About me

I recently retired as CEO from the Association of Ontario Midwives, having served for over 18 years. I was part of an amazing staff team and worked closely with successive boards of directors. We worked hard and collaboratively to establish healthy workplace culture and stay focused on producing impressive results for our members. I led the organization in a 5x growth in membership and a 10x growth in revenue. I was also a leader in the AOM’s successful landmark human rights case against the government of Ontario regarding pay equity. Overall, I gained strong skills and experience that I now bring to my consulting work.

For most of that time, I also served on the Board of Trustees for the AOM Benefits Trust, serving as Finance Chair for 2 years and as a long-time member of the Governance & Equity Committee. I was part of an important transition over those years from an operational board to a policy-oriented board.

I worked for 7 years as the Director of Membership & Education at the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario, and 5 years as the Director of Operations for a small but mighty product design firm. I am currently a board member for a large social service agency serving as CQI Committee Chair and a member of the HR & Governance Committee.

I have a keen interest in good governance. Exuberant about policies, procedures, and bylaws, I understand the complexities of not-for-profits and how to make lasting cultural, strategic and structural changes that strengthen organizations.

With a BScN from McMaster University and an honours MBA from York University with specializations in Not-for-Profit Leadership & Management and Organizational Behaviour, I have been part of not-for-profits for most of my career. And now for a new chapter –  consulting in the not-for-profit sector with a deep commitment to make small and medium NFPs stronger.
